QUEBEC SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM

If you wish to immigrate to Québec under Permanent Worker category, you should:

  • acquire good knowledge of French and English before arriving in Québec.
  • find out the conditions for practicing your profession or trade.
  • create a network of personal and professional contacts as soon as you arrive or even earlier, during exploratory visits to Québec.
  • learn interview and writing techniques that will enable you to compile a curriculum vitae as customary in Québec.
  • accept a job other than the one you were seeking or one involving less responsibility, while you acquire Québec experience or obtain training.
  • evaluate the cost in Québec, including the expenses of settling in.
  • understand the difference between the selection and the admission of workers—the respective roles of the Gouvernement du Québec and the Government of Canada.

 

The requirements for skilled workers

 

To be selected as a skilled worker, you must, in particular:

  • settle in Québec with the goal of being employed there
  • hold at least one diploma that corresponds, in the Québec education system, to a Secondary School Diploma or a Diploma of Vocational Studies
  • have acquired training and occupational skills that will facilitate your insertion into the job market
  • meet the passing score under selection factors
