Self-employed persons

If you like to immigration to Canada under the self-employment you must meet the following criteria.

  • Have relevant experience
  • Meet the selection criteria for self-employed persons and
  • Be admissible

 

There are two application processes for self-employed people, which are the simplified application process and the regular application process.

 

Most applicants must use the simplified process.

 

You must use the regular process if you are in the situations below:

  • you have been selected by Québec;
  • you have been lawfully admitted to Canada for a period of at least one year; or
  • you have been lawfully admitted into the U.S. for a period of at least one year.

 

What is relevant experience

 

  • participation at a world-class level in cultural activities or athletics;
  • farm management experience; or
  • self-employment in cultural activities or athletics.

 

What are the selection criteria

 

You will be assessed on selection criteria that include your experience, education, age, language abilities and adaptability. The pass mark is currently 35 points of the total 100.

What are the admissible grounds

 

You and your family members must pass a medical examination, security, and criminal checks. You also must show your admissibility on financial ground.
